THE SHOCKER!
Excerpted from
Perry Marshall's fine Renaissance Marketing Newsletter.

Do you remember Admiral James Stockdale,
the guy who was Ross Perot's Vice Presidential candidate in 'the '92 election?

He didn't fare so well as a VP candidate, but he was quite an impressive military man.
He was former president of  the Naval War College
and was the highest ranking officer in the "Hanoi Hilton" in Viet Nam.

The "Hanoi Hilton" was the sarcastic name that the prisoners of the North VietNamese
gave to the prison where they were held.

He spent eight years in Hanoi and was tortured numerous times by his captors.

Mr. Thomas Barnett relates:

"Stockdale tells the story of the optimists who never survived their time in Hanoi,
simply because they clung far too much to their dreams of release and in doing so
couldn't handle the brutal realities of what it took to survive the day to day.

"So instead of dealing with the here and now realistically,
they tended to cling to the hope that they'd be home by whatever
the next holiday was, and when that day came and went,
their spirit would be diminished by that measure.
"Over time, they died because their spirit was extinguished by reality."

Stockdale explains his "paradox" this way:
"You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in
the end (which you can never afford to lose) with the
discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your
current reality, whatever they might be."

What Stockdale was really describing is the flagrant abuse of 'positive thinking.'

And you know what?  A lot of entrepreneurs are really just too optimistic.
Worse yet, the business opportunity pitchmen exploit this
and sell ridiculously unrealistic plans to starry-eyed people.

What a shame.

I seriously doubt anything you ever face in business will be
as dreadful as the Hanoi Hilton.

Still, nothing can be worse for you than to walk into battle with a plastic
sword and helmet, and then get cut down with tanks and machine guns.

Believe in yourself. Keep going forward even if it appears to be a
backward step. Watch out for the snake oil salesmen.
Listen to Bhuda ...
"Believe nothing no matter where you read it,
No matter who said it,
even if I have said it ... unless ...
It agrees with your own reason and common sense."

Unrealistic Expectations.

"Make $BIG MONEY$ from home at your kitchen table in your underware doing no work, no selling, no calling (We'll do all the work, selling and calling for you) and all of this for only $29.95 a month. This is Turnkey ... push button simple!"

I'm sure you've seen something similar to this before. Did it draw your attention? Of course it did. It promises to do everything for you which is almost irresistible. Is it real? I can only tell you that I've fallen for it myself and NEVER has it panned out. I don't know why but most of the general population is prone to the "something for nothing syndrome" which usually turns out to be time wasted chasing the POT O' GOLD at the end of the rainbow! Hype - it's bad!

In fact the HYPE has gotten so out of hand that people are actually starting to make fun of it. Check this website out. It's a parody on an over the top sales page website ... Buy My Stupid E-Book   ... a warning ... there's a bit of vulgarity on this website.

That's pretty funny, isn't it? It's also pretty sad. Sad in the respect that there are great products and services to bring to the marketplace, a ton of money to be made and yet both legitimate opportunities and scams use the same Sales Page Formula. In other words, it is tough to differentiate between the good and the bad.

BUT ... and a BIG BUT this is ...

We are at the forefront of a world wide trend.
Therefore, a strong probability of good income.

The Money Is There!

That trend is brick and mortar businesses moving their
operations to the Internet and new companies sprouting up
to take advantage of any empty space that may be there.

Plus ... because of the Internet and computing power,
new business structures that compensate people for referrals
on an ongoing basis in ways that where unimaginable before.
